If there is one person that made the most impact in my life it was my father. The cool thing was that he wasn't just a disciplinarian but he was my friend. I have a ton of great memories about my dad but the best is when I was right and he was wrong. Didn't happen often and still doesn't. I knew growing up that he didn't know everything and he didn't always do the right thing but one thing was clear, He loved me. I have pictures on my desk at work to prove that. From day one I was on his lap on a fishing trip or I was handing him tools on the job or falling asleep in his truck on the way home from work. We have had a great time and I have loved every minute of it.
Now that I am out of the house and far away I realize how much I love him. Even though there are thousands of miles between us I still feel him close. I know that any time I go home we will pick up right where we left off. The same old inside jokes, same old car talk and same good old fashion hugs! I miss my buddy and as I now am a father, I can see what he meant when he said "Don't grow up!" I know dad, somewhere in my youth I told you I would not grow up but my mind was small and innocent. I am truly sorry for growing up but I had no choice.
All you readers; make sure to tell your dads that you love them. For those of you that don't have a dad or were dealt a crappie set of circumstances thank God the Father that He was, is and always will be there for you.
