My eyes hurt

Why is it that when you stare at a computer for a long time your eyes hurt? It's not like starring at the sun. Or is it? The screens are emitting light and so does the sun. Your eyes hurt starring at the sun and they do as well starring at the computer. So therefore they must be the same.
