    So what do you think?

So it seems as though religion and God are on everybody's minds now a days. With the Passion movie and 911 came an upsurge of people willing to talk about God. It is amazing to see how willing people are to talk about prayer, spiritual matters, the soul, and the big man himself: God. So what do you think about these days. Are you still caught up in all the hype of everyday life? Are relationships passing you by? How about God? Is He anywhere near the center of your heart? One more question and then I will be done, Have you seen the Passion of the Christ?

I know that there is a lot of controversy with this movie. People saying that it is anti-semantic, violent, untrue and many other off the wall ideas. I saw the film twice now and almost could not fathom the visual thoughts presented within. I have read the account many times in all the gospels of the Bible and never had the imagery that was in the movie. I think that if you claim to follow Christ it is your duty to see this movie.

I have heard many "Christians" say that they don't want to see the movie because they are afraid that they will not be able to handle it. Well, let me tell you something you won't. Yes, that's right I said you won't be able to handle it! People were crying all over the place. Who cares? I was. I had to. There was no way that I could see those images and realize what Christ went through for me without crying like a baby. I tried not to. Trust me, I started watching the movie with the intent to hold out as long as possible before the water flowed. It wasn't long. The realization was too much. I can't imagine the pain that He went through for me.

The key to the whole death of Christ is to realize He could of opted out at any time. He was God for Heaven's sake. He could of stopped the whole thing. Do you realize that? There is a catch though–He didn't! He took it willingly. I thought that they portrayed it well in the movie how he got back up after part of the beating. Amazing. This movie really redefined Grace for me. I now look at it through a blood stained lens. Wow, what He did for a fool like me.

There are so many different aspects of the movie I think that I might be blogging about it for a while. There are probably a lot of folks talking about it from here on out. I am so excited that this movie came in my lifetime. I really feel that through Mel and his efforts there will be a lot that come to find Christ. This might be the greatest tool to help people see Him we have seen in a long time. It is really cool to see how God works. What a great way to start talking about God with a friend than to go see a movie about His son.

If you have not seen the Passion of the Christ, I really encourage you to go see it. Even if "you don't think you can handle it" you need to go. Don't let that stop you from seeing a movie that will change your life. I hope to watch it often through my journey to be reminded of what it cost Him to pay the ultimate sacrifice.
