    The kids of Philadelphia

You could tell that something was different this year. You could feel it in the air as you walked by the swimming pool swarming with kids. As the sun beat down on you for only a minute then saved by the cool air under the trees. Something was going to be way different about this day camp compared to the last 2 years but we couldn't tell what is was. As the kids started to show up the nervousness heightened. As soon as I yelled "Everybody come sit down on the blue tarp" I knew what it was. Sure enough these kids obey our every beck and call! I knew these kids wanted to be there and that from their attitudes that their parents loved them.

It was like night and day. Kids from the past years in the old neighborhood were always fighting, picking on other kids and generally causing trouble. The worst kids that we had at this years day camp were the pastors kids! It was a delight to be there this time. There was no feeling of "What the heck are we doing here?" These kids were awesome and we loved every minute of it.

The best time that I had was hanging out with these four brothers, Terrence, Tyreek, Tyrall, and their other brother (I forgot his name at the moment). These guys were so awesome. Every day they wanted to sing a song about Jesus and heaven that they had learned at a previous "bible study" as they called it. I will miss those guys and I hope that they are there when we go back in a couple of weeks,

At the end of the week we had 18 kids raise their hand to except Christ into their lives. Not sure if it actually meant something to them but you never know and we shouldn't wonder anyways because it is all in God's hands.

    Serving Him,
    ~Hosh~
